Biography

Andrea Marcelli: born in Rome. During his career he performed in USA, Japan, India, Brazil, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tunisia, Italy, Germany, England, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Estonia, France, Belgium, Finland, Luxembourg, Lebanon and others. More than 190 of his compositions have been recorded in CD. Two of his compositions have been included on both the "European Real Book" and "The Digital Real Book part 2". Graduated in 1986 from the L. Refice Conservatory in Frosinone (Rome) in Classical Clarinet, Jazz Composition and Arrangement. He also attended clinics with Tommy Campbell, Peter Erskine and others.

Storyville Records is proud to present this trio recording by three European jazz musicians. Andrea Marcelli is the leader and play drums. He graduated from the Conservatory in Rome in classical clarinet, jazz composition and arrangement. He also plays percussion and piano. He moved to USA in 1989 spending 8 years in Los Angeles and 4 in New York, He now lives in Berlin. Davide Petrocca, bassist, lives in Belgium and Germany. He has played and recorded with many famous jazz musicians like Randy Brecker, Hank Jones and Jon Faddis just to name a few. He has studied bass with Danish bass player Niels-Henning Ørsted Petersen. Thomas Clausen is one of the best Danish pianists. He has played with almostevery American jazz musicians that came to Denmark like Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster and many more. There are 13 tracks on the CD and all of them are first or second takes. It is compositions of Andrea Marcelli and standard tunes like Bill Evans’ ‘Waltz For Debby’ and Dizzy Gillespies’ ‘Con Alma’
