Enrico Pieranunzi, Jesper Lundgaard and Alex Riel met at club Jazzhus Montmartre, Copenhagen one evening in June 2014 to join forces. The expectations were high as they all three are well known in European jazz and the atmosphere was good and enhanced by the celebration of Lundgaard’s 60th birthday. This trio’s performance resulted in a masterpiece of improvisation of songs from the Great American Songbook and is now released for everyone to enjoy.
Jesper Lundgaard (b), Enrico Pieranunzi (p) & Alex Riel (dr).
"One thing is certain and that is that these three gentlemen in their prime, delivers jazz music that is close to the “American model”. And there is few, if any trios “over there” that does this better than the Italian and the two Danes. "

"Jesper Lundgaard is the finest in his class. A brilliant technician, steady as a rock, incredibly confident in his formulations and a complete world class musician. His choice of tone and his drive is just so right that one should write books about it. The same superlatives also describes Pieranunzi and Riel, so the trio's crew alone guarantees the quality. That it is live does not make things worse."
