Release date April 23.
Storyville is presenting SPIRIT, a musical palette presented by a trio with their roots back in the 1960’ies. It is also a spiritual journey into a kind of music, which has become timeless. An array of tones from Swedish folk music, American musicals, French existentialism, Italian pop and the music, which Duke Ellington named American Music, in short: jazz. On its journey the trio is accompanied by the singer Alice Carreri and the tenor sax player Tomas Franck.
Torben Kjær (p), Henrik Dhyrbye (b), Ole Streenberg (dr) & Alice Carreri (vcl).
"The three gentlemen, Torben Kjær on piano, Henrik Dhyrbye on bass and Ole Streenberg on drums do not need to convince anyone about anything. They play because they want to. It is cozy well performed."
- Niels Overgård (original article in Danish here)
"The team sounds "Blue in Green" shadowy on the luminous "Far Away Star" and even delivers the Evans/Davis tune as an instrumental to close the album, while "Some Other Time" has Bill Evans-style shadows casting along Carreri's dreamy and reflective vocals."
- George W. Harris (original article here)
"The album from Glostrup Trioen, Spirit, has been turning frequently in my CD player recently and I can happily confirm that it is at least as good as their previous album, if not better."
- Stig Linderoth (Original article in Swedish)
